Vintage Indigo fabric is hand dyed, 100% cotton, using traditional techniques from West Africa. The cotton fabric was first handwoven on looms into individual strips then dyed using leaves from the indigofera tinctoria plant. The patterns you see were created using natural materials such as raffia, pebbles and seed. The cloth was also often folded and binded to create lines and patterns. These designs and patterns symbolize traditional iconograpy and represent the maker’s wishes for good fortune.

The mudcloth, or bogolanfini, is also made entirely by hand. Women would spin the cotton into thread before it was handwoven on a vertical loom into strips. Iron rich mud and sticks or metal tools were used to create color and symbols which represented symbols and secrets of the past. These strips were then sewn together telling the story of the women and the times in which they lived.

Each piece is OOAK.

Sousdi fabric is a luxurious blend of cotton (65%) and rayon (35%). The fibers are spun then handwoven before it is dyed into nearly any color you could imagine. Our team in Morocco helped discover the “secret” to softening the Sousdi fabric.

Sousdi garments come in a variety of colors, solid and indigo print overdye.

Bouclette is handwoven/handspun cotton.

Typically, there is a 4-6 week turnaround from the date your order is placed until you receive it. Dependent on Moroccan religious holidays. When your order arrives at our shop, we will inspect and get it shipped out to you within 2-3 business days. Your invoice will be updated with the final shipping costs when your order ships. Tracking numbers will be provided. A 20% packing and shipping fee will be added to your invoice. 10% packing fee added to Local Delivery and Pick up. We will contact you within 36 hours to confirm.
